Dear Parents/Guardians,
With the change of seasons it bring a big swing in fall temperatures and blustery winds throughout the day on the playground. Please be sure to send your student(s) to school in appropriate attire for the days weather. It can be quite brisk at morning recess and change to warm and sunny by lunch. Dressing in layers will help with these fluctuations in temperature.
When sending your child in layers, student(s) tend to forget to bring home all the layers they arrived with. Therefore, our lost and found is really beginning to pile up. Please, stop in to see if your child has forgotten anything at school. In addition, it really helps us out if you label your student(s) clothes with their first and last names so we can get it back to them.
As we embark on the 2nd quarter of school it is imperative your student(s) attend school daily. We have an average building attendance goal of 95%. Students are rewarded for making their goal each quarter. Everyday matters! State law states that the maximum amount of days a student is legally allowed to be absent is 10% for the entire school year. For us, in Jerome, that is 17 or fewer days for the whole school year.
Arriving late to school and early pick ups should be avoided whenever possible. We start learning right away at 8:05am in the morning and teach right up until it is time to go home at 3:05pm. Your student needs this learning time in order to be successful in school. By attending regularly it helps your students feel secure in their learning and proud of their successes.
May you and your family have a wonderful time spending time together and making memories for Thanksgiving 2024.
Warm Regards,
Jill Taylor, Principal
Amber Boone, Vice Principal

Our Horizon team and your student(s) have been working
really hard on improving our reading and math scores!
Below is our achievement scoreboard by grade.
Continue to watch us be "green and growing" each month!
Our goal is a 20% grade level increase this year!
How can you help at home?
READ with your student(s) every single night! Make this non-negotiable for your child. (They can either to them or listen to them read to you)
Check and sign their daily agenda and/or homework folders.
Find as many ways to incorporate math into daily life as much as possible!
(Some simple ideas: asking them their times tables or give them simple story problems to complete while driving, counting coins or cans while shopping, ask children math problems, play counting games like cards, dice, Yahtzee etc.)
PLEASE DO NOT Drop off or Park in Bus lane!
Please park your car and escort your child to the sidewalk
Please use the drop off line.

NOMINATE a STAFF member you think is deserving!
This is a reminder to all to send in your nominations for Excellence in Education.
Recently the Teacher Leadership team met and developed a process that I believe will further legitimize the honor of receiving this recognition.
In the spirit of transparency here is some basic bullet points on the process:
There are 3 categories that you can make nominations in, Elementary Certified, Secondary Certified and Classified.
Recipients must be a current employee of the Jerome School District; for Certified Nominations: recipient must hold a valid Idaho teacher or pupil personnel certificate; for Classified Nominations: recipient must be employed in any non-certified position;
Nominations are due by the last day of every month in order to get the voting done.
Voting of nominees is done in the Teacher Leadership Team which is comprised of staff from every building.
The voting process is anonymous. This means that the Teacher Leadership team does not see the names of the nominees. Instead they only see the information about the nominee that is submitted.
Administrators are not eligible for this recognition;
Students, parents, administrators, fellow staff members or anyone else n the community may nominate the individual;
The recognition is for those who go above and beyond in making a difference in the life of an individual student or lives of a group of students.
Scan this QR code now and nominate a member our our amazing team to be recognized for their incredible efforts to change the lives of the students in our community!
