Buddy Bench for Summit

We would like to thank Lowe’s for the donation of materials to build a Buddy Bench for our playground.  We would also like to thank Sean Kirk for donating his time to build the bench for our students!  We are excited about getting it outside for the kids to use. Global Read Aloud

Global Read Aloud1Once again, Mrs. Fletcher's class is participating in The Global Read Aloud. This year, the class is reading "The BFG" with Mrs. Keller's fourth grade class in New Hall, California. They get together every week via FaceTime to discuss the book. In the chapter titled "The Bloodbottler", Sophie told the BFG that she would come up with a plan to get rid of the mean giants. The students in both classes came up with their own plan for getting rid of the giants, and shared it with each other today.  They were amazed at how similar their plans were! They look forward to their book talks every week, and are making some great friends, too!

Test Taking Skills - Almost There

examSummit Elementary is excited this year to be using new reading and math materials.  These materials are based on 21st century skills and expectations.  The increased rigor of these materials has become apparent, which was expected. J   Most students have not been exposed to this type of challenge. They may or have already experienced some “productive struggles.”  It is especially important that students get a lot of encouragement as they grow into the new expectations.  The confidence that develops in taking on a challenge and succeeding with hard work is a life lesson that we want all of our students to experience.  Click here for more information. 2016 - 2017 Beginning of the Year Student Survey

Earn a Movie and Popcorn

pcStudents have the opportunity to earn a movie and popcorn in our cafetorium.  We think it’s important to highlight and reward students who exhibit “good citizenship”.  Positive behavior is crucial at this age and needs to be recognized. Students who have NOT received behavior infractions (pink slips), consistently make an EFFORT in ALL areas and turn in completed work on timebetween the dates of September 1st through Oct. 21st   will have earned the privilege to view the movie (unknown at this time) with their classmates.   It’s our way of acknowledging and praising responsible behavior, not to mention, making their day.

After you have discussed this with your child, please sign the form and return the bottom portion as soon as possible.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  Please call if you have any questions. Click here to download the form in English and Spanish.

Welcome to Summit Elementary

evaI will gladly be serving my eighth year as your principal and I’m very excited to work with our wonderful parents and the excellent TEAM we have at Summit. My experience starts with ten years as a 6th grade teacher and another four years as an assistant principal in TF.

In 2004, I made the leap to Jerome where I taught 6th grade at Central Elementary.  The following year, I was given the opportunity to be Central’s and later Summit’s assistant principal, which I happily served for four years.  I love being a part of the Jerome School District and I thank you for your kindness and continued support.  I am excited and looking forward to meeting OUR 4th and 5th graders and reconnecting with past students.  Our parents play an important role on our TEAM and we thank you for your participation.

Let’s have an AWESOME and fun-filled 2016-2017, surrounded with laughter, positive attitudes and contagious energy. WELCOME again to Summit and thank you so much for sharing your child with us.  I can’t wait to meet YOU!!
